Norse Ex Machina

"Are you aware of what these beetles are capable of?"
"I am very aware. Why else would I use them?"
"This is morally unjust. I demand you put your petty troubles behind you with your stupid beetles."
"You do not order me. We are peers, equals. You're not even in the same organization as me."
"I am not your equal. I am smarter, more experienced and older than you."
"Only until I do this! Wait, how are you still here?"
"I'm wearing your beetle-proof vest. Say hello to King Arthur for me."
"You didn't account for me doubling up on vests."
"You didn't account for me!"
"Ash, no! You don't have a vest."
"Oh no, the torso eating beetles are slowly tunneling through my skin, blood vessels, muscles and vital organs. I'm certain to die soon."
"Well, this isn't very good at all. In fact, this is a terrible situation for me to be in. As a single parent watching my only child die, I am in a very grim and unhappy state."
-----
Thor burst into the sewer, calling out the torso beetles. Scared of the mighty Thunder God, they flew away to Rum Island never to bother anyone ever again. Tamlyn and Ash left the Scottish laboratory to pursue their talents in less deadly careers. Lord Jeremiah Gottwald left to join an academy for pilots born of royal blood. They all lived happily ever after.
